The New York Giants improved to 3-6 on the season via Sunday's 23-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders one day before the Cleveland Browns officially parted ways with unhappy wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who is available to the Giants and every other team via waivers before he can become a free agent.
Beckham earned three Pro Bowl nods during his best days with the Giants, and some wondered if they would claim him as they attempt to keep their campaign afloat and evaluate young quarterback Daniel Jones.
According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Giants coach Joe Judge was asked Monday about the possibility of a reunion involving the 29-year-old.
"Wouldn’t expect anything," Judge responded.
Williams points out that the Giants don't have the available cap space to afford the $7.25 million of salary attached to Beckham if they tried to claim him. The odds of Beckham signing with Big Blue at a discounted price this fall are perceived to be quite low, and it's been reported the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are atop his list of desired future employers assuming he clears waivers as most expect.
The Saints and Detroit Lions have also confirmed they're not claiming Beckham before he reaches free agency.
