Big Malik Nabers Update Drops Before Giants-Chargers

Despite the New York Giants' 0-3 start, second-year wide receiver Malik Nabers continues to impress. In three games, he has racked up 16 receptions, 251 yards and two touchdowns, all of which lead the team.

However, his availability against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday has been in question. On Wednesday, he did not participate in the team's practice with a shoulder injury and was limited on Thursday.

Considering this will be rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart's first start, not having the team's most impactful wide receiver on the field would have been devastating. That's especially so considering the Giants are facing a dangerous Chargers defense.

Malik Nabers' Health Receives Update

Luckily for the Giants and Dart, on Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that Nabers had been removed from the team's injury report and will be "good to go" against the Chargers.

It's an exciting development as he aims to help his rookie quarterback put together a debut worth remembering.

Nabers previously commented on Dart's ability to grow, telling reporters, "I think he's done a great job you know just picking our brains making sure he's ready for you know, when his name gets called."

How This Affects Jaxson Dart and the Giants

Without Nabers on the field, the next top option at wide receiver would be Wan'Dale Robinson. His 15 receptions, 223 yards and one touchdown through three games are solid, but he doesn't pose the same level of threat.

Dart now has a clear safety net with Nabers, who after just one full season in the NFL established himself as one of the league's most dynamic players.

However, going against the Chargers is still no easy task. They allowed just 249 passing yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, 150 against the Las Vegas Raiders and 147 against the Denver Broncos.

With Nabers ready to go though, Dart's ability to impress in his first career start is certainly much greater.

The Giants host the Chargers at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
