Bijan Robinson reveals 'dream' after signing extension with Falcons

It was recently learned that the Atlanta Falcons and star Bijan Robinson had agreed to a three-year, $75M contract extension that included $51M guaranteed and made him the league's highest-paid running back. 

Robinson officially inked his agreement on Tuesday, and he then spoke with Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' website about committing his future to the team that selected him in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

"God is so good," Robinson explained. "Without Him, I wouldn't be here. To keep playing with these guys and this organization. This is one of my dreams, to stay with one team. I think that is such a cool thing just because guys like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan they all stayed on their one team, so I think that is a cool legacy thing for yourself."

Of course, Robinson's point isn't entirely accurate, as Jordan spent his final seasons as an active player featuring for the Washington Wizards instead of the Chicago Bulls. That said, Bryant played only for the Los Angeles Lakers during his Hall of Fame career. 

"I am excited for everybody to keep watching the gifts that I have been given, and hopefully we get to do some incredible things," Robinson added during his comments. "The signing is great, but it is more so for me, just being able to be here and play for this organization."

The StatMuse website shows that Robinson finished the 2025 regular season with a league-best 2,298 yards from scrimmage. Per ESPN stats, he was fourth in the NFL with 1,478 rushing yards and fifth with 287 carries.

The Falcons are currently hoping that either free-agency signing Tua Tagovailoa or 2024 first-round draft pick Michael Penix Jr. will emerge as a long-term answer at quarterback for the organization. Having Robinson as a weapon should make life easier for whichever quarterback wins the starting job, but Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham noted that the club wanted to lock Robinson down for reasons that go beyond what he's able to achieve on the field. 

"First and foremost, we respect Bijan as both a person and a player," Cunningham said for the team's release. "He's a dynamic playmaker whose production and impact on the field speak for themselves. Just as importantly, Bijan embodies everything we want the Atlanta Falcons to stand for. He approaches his craft with humility and consistency, elevates the people around him, is a tremendous teammate, and represents this organization with class in our community."

Robinson is viewed by many members of the football community as the top overall running back in the league. If his best on-the-field achievements for the Falcons are to come, his extension could prove to be a bargain for the club.
