Bijan Robinson reveals real pronunciation of his name, people have been saying it wrong all along

It’s Bijan. Not, Bijan.

The Atlanta Falcons running back just corrected all the analysts who have been pronouncing his name wrong for years. Bijan Robinson revealed the correct way to say his first name during training camp on Saturday.

The may come as a surprise to many, as just about every announcer, commentator, analyst has called him by the incorrect pronunciation this whole time. And even his college coach, Steve Sarkisian is a part of the issue. Just watch this clip from 2021 where he speaks about his, at the time, star running back.

The Falcons tailback has simply had to endure the masses incorrectly saying his name, all while taking it in stride. It seems like it doesn’t really bother the star running back. He’s doing just fine on the field.

In two seasons in the NFL, Robinson has emerged as one of the NFL’s premier tailbacks. He has yet to miss a game and has nearly eclipsed 2,500 rushing yards in 34 appearances. He has 18 touchdowns to his credit as well.

In 2024, he took 304 carries for 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns — all three stats ranked in the top five among NFL running backs. He came 24 yards shy of getting to 1,000 yards as a rookie out of Texas in 2023.

Entering year three, more of the same success is expected out of the Falcons running back. Perhaps for the first time in his career, Robinson can be a part of a playoff push in Atlanta. The franchise finished the 7-10 and 8-9 during the first two years of his career. They’ll look to be improved for year two under head coach Raheem Morris.

The Falcons will begin the 2025 regular season on Sept. 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a divisional rival, at home during Week 1. Robinson will likely hear his number called early and often during the matchup.

For now, Robinson will be honing his craft at the Falcons training camp, which began this past Thursday in Flowery Branch, Georgia. It will run through Wednesday, August 13, which will also serve as a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans. The two teams will play each other during Week 2 of the preseason. He likely won’t see the field too much in those games.

Atlanta will begin preseason action the week before against the Detroit Lions. That game will get underway beginning on Aug. 8.
