Bill Belichick reveals thoughts on Packers' Jordan Love
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots squared off against each other in joint practices this week and in Week 2 preseason action on Saturday night. Jordan Love and company ended up losing to Bill Belichick and the Patriots, but his performance was very good. He turned heads with two major throws on his final drive of the game and has provided fans in Green Bay with a lot of hope for the future.

Moving on from a superstar quarterback like Aaron Rodgers is never an easy task. However, the Packers have had the luxury of grooming their new franchise quarterback behind Rodgers over the last few years.

After getting a look at Love this week, Belichick opened up with his usual blunt comments on an opposing player. His thoughts will make Green Bay fans very happy.

Granted, there is nothing ground-shaking about the thought from the legendary head coach. But, Love has clearly earned some respect from his peer. That in and of itself is a major accomplishment.

Love will be asked to do a lot during his first season as the Packers starter. Green Bay has no interest in going into a rebuild and will do everything they can to stay in contention. Most of those hopes will rest on the arm of Love, who will need to play smart and well for the team to have a chance at getting into the playoffs.

In his performance against the Patriots on Saturday evening, Love completed five of his eight pass attempts for 84 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions. His main highlights came on a 42-yard sideline bomb to wide receiver Romeo Doubs and a beautiful strike to rookie wideout Jayden Reed for a 19-yard touchdown.

While it’s only preseason action, Jordan Love has shown enough talent for fans to get excited about. Bill Belichick certainly agrees with the Packers about Love’s talent.

Expect to see the young quarterback put together a strong campaign in 2023. He isn’t going to seamlessly replace Rodgers, but he will give Green Bay a chance to remain competitive. The sky is the limit for Love moving forward in his career and the talent and potential has been very clear and apparent.
