Bill Cowher Thinks Steelers Will 'Have Conversations' With Star Quarterback This Offseason

It's no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be in the quarterback market this offseason.

That's what happens when a team is in quarterback purgatory. It's hard to get out of, especially in a year where there aren't a lot of great quarterbacks available in free agency or the draft.

Still, they'll be in the market for a quarterback and former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher thinks the team will talk with Aaron Rodgers during the spring since he won't be back with the New York Jets next season.

"Yeah. I mean I don't know where they are right now in terms of their quarterback situation with Russell, Justin, and Aaron. I think a decision has to be made. What's the future plan and what is the plan in the interim? I think there's got to be also a sense of urgency and taking some guys on the back end of their careers. T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, they're in the latter stages of their careers so they want to win now and that's a big part of what they want to do. But, you've also got to have a plan moving forward at that position so I think there will be dialogue there but those will be conversations taking place in that building," Cowher said to Dan Patrick.

While the Steelers and Rodgers may have some conversations, they may come after they figure out if they can bring back one of Russell Wilson or Justin Fields. Their preference is to bring back one of them for next season since they know that bringing both back is highly unlikely.

Rodgers finished the 2025 season with 3,897 yards through the air, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

It's will be a busy next month leading up to the start of the new league year in March.
