Adding a 6-foot-3, 339-pound defensive tackle won’t erase what happened to the Buffalo Bills in this year’s AFC Championship Game, but it certainly won’t hurt their chances in 2025.
In his latest mock draft , ESPN’s Field Yates has the team taking Michigan’s Kenneth Grant, an athletic, two-down nose tackle whom he thinks would fit perfectly in a rotation with Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones.
“Kansas City imposed their will on the ground against Buffalo in short-yardage situations,” Yates wrote, noting that the Chiefs averaged 4.6 yards per carry on their way to a 32-29 victory in the conference championship game.

Yates calls Grant “gigantic,” and while he believes his size would be a tremendous asset to Buffalo's run defense, he also thinks he’d have success as an inside pass-rusher. Grant had 69 tackles (36 solo) along with 6.5 sacks and nine passes defended in three years as a Wolverine and helped Michigan win a national championship in 2023.
Of course, Yates sees Michigan’s other defensive tackle, Mason Graham, as a much better prospect than Grant but has him going to Jacksonville with the No. 5 pick. While Grant may have the build and athleticism to succeed in the NFL, he’s no sure thing at pick No. 30.
NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein, for one, doubts Grant’s sack production will carry over to the next level, writing that his game footage “can run hot and cold.” He also shared a quote from an area NFC scout who said Grant “was a little inconsistent on tape (in 2024) but he’s going to be a freaky tester and guys with that size and those numbers are really hard to find.”
The Bills haven’t taken a first-round defensive tackle since Oliver in 2019. At 6-foot-1 and 287 pounds, Oliver is a bit undersized for a defensive tackle and should welcome a player with Grant’s girth.
Assuming he tests as well as expected at the scouting combine, Buffalo fans could give him an even bigger welcome after the 2025 NFL Draft.
