The Buffalo Bills will have a bit of a new look heading into next season after replacing head coach Sean McDermott with Joe Brady. The Bills also made a number of roster moves to improve heading into next season, including trading for Bears wide receiver DJ Moore.
On Monday, the Bills made a small move to improve and add depth on the defensive side of the ball. Buffalo has signed former Chiefs linebacker Mike Danna to a one-year contract, the team announced on social media.
Danna won’t be much more than a rotational defender in the front seven for the Bills unless in juries force him into something more, but he is still a reliable piece that should be able to take some quality snaps in 2026. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, playing in 87 games and winning two Super Bowls during that time.
In those 87 games, Danna has recorded 21.5 sacks and 25 tackles for loss, proving to be a quality contributor whenever he was relied upon in some big games and big moments.
He will likely have a similar role with the Bills, who have invested heavily in the defensive front seven over the years and have now made a number of big moves to improve at that position this offseason.
Buffalo made a big splash this offseason when it signed former Broncos and Dolphins EDGE Bradley Chubb to a three-year deal worth more than $43 million. Chubb will undoubtedly get a lot of the pass-rush snaps for new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard and company, with Greg Rousseau getting a majority of the reps on the other side.
Behind those two, Danna joins a group that includes second-round pick TJ Parker as players who will also contribute on the edge in a big way.
While Josh Allen gives the Bills’ offense both a high floor and a sky-high ceiling, the Buffalo defense is where its Super Bowl hopes will be either realized or dashed. These offseason investments are a great step in the right direction.
