The Buffalo Bills enter Week 17 with significant stakes as they prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles, remaining firmly in the hunt for the AFC East title. Buffalo improved to 11-4 last week with a 23-20 road win over the Cleveland Browns, a result that kept them in control of their postseason outlook.

However, the victory came with a moment of concern when quarterback Josh Allen dealt with a foot injury late in the game. He briefly left for evaluation before returning to finish the contest. Allen threw for 130 yards in Week 16, but concerns lingered about the severity of his injury.

As expected, Allen’s status was a focal point during the week. But the latest update brings encouraging news for Buffalo.

After being listed as a limited participant in practice earlier in the week, Allen was a full participant in Friday’s practice, indicating he is on track to start Sunday.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Allen has “gotten better each day” and is expected to be ready for Sunday’s game despite the foot soreness (via The Buffalo News’ Katherine Fitzgerald).

The update is significant given Allen’s importance to Buffalo’s success. The quarterback has started every game this season and is the engine of the Bills offense, combining high-volume passing production with his impact as a runner. This campaign, he has recorded 3,406 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 15 games.

His availability is especially critical with the AFC East race still in play and Buffalo positioning itself for a potential home playoff game.

With Allen expected to be ready, the Bills will look to carry momentum into a matchup against a physical Eagles team that presents challenges on both sides of the ball. Sunday’s game between the Bills and Eagles is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium and will be televised on Fox. The outcome could play a pivotal role in shaping Buffalo’s path through the AFC playoff picture.
