Bills Begin Roster Cuts

It was learned earlier today that receiver/returner Mecole Hardman and punter Mitch Wishnowsky will not be on Buffalo’s initial 53-man roster. The Bills have since moved forward with several other cuts ahead of the looming deadline.

Per a team announcement, Hardman and the following 12 players have been cut:

• Jordan Dunbar, CB
• Bruno Fina, G
• Theron Gaines, LB
• Sincere Haynesworth, C
• Zion Logue, DL
• D.J. Miller, CB
• Wande Owens, S
• Dante Pettis, WR
• Otis Reese, LB
• Quentin Skinner, WR
• Shane Zylstra, TE

Pettis will likely be one of the most experienced receivers available this weekend. The veteran of 66 games is not subject to waivers, leaving him free to sign with a new team at any time. Pettis has seen time with four teams over the course of his career, including eight games with New Orleans in each of the past two seasons.

Zylstra entered cutdowns in the same situation as Pettis. He was due $1.08MM in compensation for 2026, but none of that figure was guaranteed. Buffalo will save that amount in cap space for both players with today’s release as a result. After spending much of the summer near the bottom of the league in spending power, additional flexibility for the Bills could be key.

Drafted by the Falcons in 2024, Logue’s only regular-season action in the NFL has come as a member of the Bills. The former sixth-rounder did not survive roster cuts last summer either, but in 2025 he was immediately retained via the practice squad. Three appearances during the year were followed by a reserve/futures contract. Logue can thus be considered a strong taxi squad candidate once again.
