The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a contest against the Carolina Panthers in which the Bills desperately need to find a way to get back in the win column.
Buffalo is looking a little banged up heading into the matchup , with safety Taylor Rapp, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, and wide receiver Josh Palmer all being ruled out. The bad news doesn't end there, though, as the team was hit with another setback from the NFL.
As Kevin Massare shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the NFL has assigned Craig Wrolstad to officiate the game between the two clubs. With Allen at quarterback, the team is 3-5 when Wrolstad calls the game, including some heartbreaking losses that the Bills Mafia remembers all too well.
He's officiated some Bills doozies:

Allen vs Houston road rookie year (elbow injury) - L
2019 NE loss (Allen concussion + 3 picks) - L
Hail Murray, Kyler Murray game - L
Bills OT loss to MIN (Josh fumbled snap at home) -L
Rams road thriller last year - L
Wrolstad has officiated some truly awful games in the Bills' history. While it may not be due to the calls on the field, it just so happens that some of the worst games in recent memory have been officiated by this crew.
The infamous Hail Murray play, when receiver DeAndre Hopkins somehow hauled in the touchdown right before a bye week, was more than a little bit of a bummer for fans.

Another loss under Wrolstad was the Rams game last year, the instant classic that came down to the wire. The 44-42 loss was electric, but it was yet another game where the Bills fell short.

Going down memory lane, another loss was the overtime loss to Minnesota, where Allen fumbled the snap and the Bills lost in a heartbreaker.
Warren Sharp said it best on X after the game: It was a brutal loss that had major playoff implications. The fumble at the one-yard line was just disastrous in the loss.
still unbelievable

all the Bills have to do is not fumble & they win
this loss cost them the 1-seed, a 1st round bye and home field advantage pic.twitter.com/sQalB4iima
Home teams are 5-2 with Wrolstad officiating, which adds some more tension to the highly anticipated matchup. Buffalo will need to execute and control what they can control.
Self-inflicted wounds have hurt this team in recent weeks, and they cannot afford to make too many of them in the upcoming Week 8 matchup. The Bills can't control the calls of the past, just how they respond in the present. With the season's momentum somewhat hanging in the balance, the Bills will need to prove that execution, not officiating, determines their fate.
Fortunately for the Bills Mafia, the team has some history on its side. Head coach Sean McDermott is a perfect 8-0 after the bye week , and quarterback Josh Allen has never lost three straight games.
