Bills' Josh Allen has 'really good relationship' with Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes

One wouldn't blame Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen if he viewed Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs as his biggest on-the-field rival heading into the summer of 2022.

Allen admitted this past January that the loss at the Chiefs in the previous year's AFC Championship Game was fresh on his mind ahead of a playoff rematch in Kansas City, and he and the Bills then suffered a heartbreaking overtime defeat to Mahomes and company that could make even the nicest of competitors feel bitter.

Per Ed Easton Jr. of Chiefs Wire/USA Today, Allen explained on a recent edition of "The Steam Room Podcast" how the two spent some time together in Miami while at the latest F1 event.

"He’s a great personality; he’s fun to be around. And obviously, all the respect that I have from on the field, I think it’s a different vibe than what people think," Allen remarked during the conversation.

He later added:

"Again, when we step on that field, we were supposed to be competitors. It’s the old mantra, 'You gotta hate your enemy.' But I would say that we have a really good relationship, especially for, you know, the type of games that we tend to play in. (The) AFC championship two years ago, and obviously, the divisional last year. But he is — he’s awesome. He really is. Love being around him."

While Allen and Mahomes both may just now be entering their physical primes, one can't help but think of the relationship shared by Tom Brady and Peyton Manning over the years upon seeing Allen's comments about his counterpart.
