The 2024 version of the Buffalo Bills brought out the best of quarterback Josh Allen, thanks partly to Joe Brady's scheme that prioritized the open receiver instead of force-feeding one player.
That meant Allen was more relaxed, and his play reflected that. Plus, he wasn't putting the ball in harm's way much either, with just six interceptions through 17 games, a career-low.
Allen would throw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns while also rushing for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to the Bills winning the AFC East at a canter with a 13-4 record and Josh being in MVP consideration - an award which he would end up winning.
But can he do it again? ESPN's Aaron Schatz thinks so.
"Josh Allen, QB, Bills," Schatz writes. "There's nothing wrong with going with the best quarterback in the league, but who is that at this point? Mahomes will probably sail through another regular season at 90% peak efficiency, which leaves us with Allen, Jackson and Burrow. Since I'm picking the Bills to go to the Super Bowl, Allen would likely be coming off a great season, so let's predict a second straight trophy for him."
Back-to-back MVPs would be a great look on Allen's resume, but the Bills and the sports media world want No. 17 to break through in the playoffs.
The big blemish on Josh's resume is losing four straight times to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills will undoubtedly be playoff-bound in 2025, and it is there that Allen must take this team to the Super Bowl.
If Buffalo makes the postseason, Allen will likely have had another great season, and in truth, if he is to win another MVP, he will need to have at least as good a year as he had in 2024, maybe even better.
Which is certainly in his wheelhouse.
