Bills' latest coaching hire has interesting connection to Odell Beckham Jr.

On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills made a fairly innocuous hire, tabbing Adam Henry as the team's wide receivers coach. However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggested there could be more than meets the eye to the move.

Rapoport indicated that Henry has a tight relationship with wideout Odell Beckham Jr., hinting that the hire could lure the free agent to Buffalo. Responding to a report from Tom Pelissero about the Bills bringing in Henry to lead the receiving corps, Rapoport tweeted, "That's interesting. Adam Henry is — besides being a very good coach — close with Odell Beckham Jr."

Beckham and Henry have worked alongside one another in college and the NFL. Henry was Beckham's receivers coach at LSU and again with the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns. Henry has an extensive coaching career, spending time with the Raiders (2007-2011), LSU (2012-2014), San Francisco 49ers (2015), Giants (2016-2017), Browns (2018-2019) and Dallas Cowboys (2020-2021).

The Cowboys were one of several teams linked to Beckham during the 2022 season. Still, owner Jerry Jones revealed this month via the Cowboys' website there was a decision that the three-time Pro Bowler "wasn't ready to play" after coming in for a visit.

Following months of rumors, Beckham ultimately remained a free agent throughout the year. Although, if a recent "workout video" released by Beckham is any indication, the 30-year-old appears ready to suit up again.

Beckham hasn't played an NFL game since tearing his ACL in Super Bowl LVI while with the Los Angeles Rams. He does come with some risk. But if healthy, Beckham could be a valuable veteran piece alongside Stefon Diggs if Buffalo chooses to go that route.
