Bills LB Von Miller on playing Rams in Week 1: 'Of course, there will be emotions there'

The 2022 NFL season opens on Thursday night with a massive matchup featuring last year's Super Bowl Champions, the Los Angeles Rams, hosting the Buffalo Bills, one of the odds on favorites to win it all this season.

It is not only two of the best overall teams in the league kicking off the season, but also a collection of some of the league's best players all (Aaron Donald, Josh Allen, Jalen Ramsey, Stefon Diggs, etc.) all playing on the same field.

One of the more fascinating subplots of the game will be new Bills edge rusher Von Miller returning to Los Angeles after helping the Rams win it all a year ago and watching that championship banner go up in an opposing uniform.

Miller talked about what that experience of playing with the Rams was like on Sunday and shared his love for the Rams organization and what they were able to accomplish, while also saying they acquired him at the right time to help him recharge his career.

But at the end of the day, it is all still about winning.

"You can never erase that. I love those guys for that. We won Super Bowl 56 and that will always be there. Those will always be my teammates. At the same time, I am on the Buffalo Bills now, and I want to create some of those same memories with my new teammates. It's a weird feeling. The NFL is just so messy. I play in the Super Bowl then my first game back is right there with my new team. That is what the fans want to see. Of course there will be some emotions there. Of course, I respect Aaron Donald and all of those guys so much. What can I say? There was no reason for me to leave. I just felt like this was my place to be. Whenever you leave on those terms, there is always going to be some weird feelings. At the end of the day those are my brothers and I know they feel the same about me."

The Rams acquired Miller from the Denver Broncos mid-way through the 2021 season. He appeared in eight regular season games and all four playoff games, recording nine sacks on their way to the Super Bowl.

He signed a six-year contract that could be worth as much as $140 million.

Miller will be looking to win his third Super Bowl win with a third different team while he's with the Bills.
