Week 5 finally brought all 32 teams onto the same page. No team is undefeated in the league now. 70,802 Bills Mafia members cheered for their team in the hope of registering their 5th consecutive win. Against a Patriots lineup with a 2-2 win-loss record, they were supposed to be an easy run. But it came down to the last 15 seconds.
Kicker Andrés Borregales stood 53 yards from the Bills’ uprights. Both teams were equal at 20 each score. But he scored the field goal, and the Pats did the unthinkable. Fans couldn’t believe it and were angry. It was mind-boggling.
The Bills made some costly mistakes in the first half. They committed 8 penalties, the second most since the week 12 game against the Eagles in 2023 (10 penalties). NFL official Shawn Hochuli was also on the Bills Mafia target for calling their plays out. But McDermott also accepted the penalties.
Moreover, the Patriots’ defense came out with full power. Both Josh Allen and WR Keon Coleman fumbled the ball once in the first half. Khahil Shakir also intercepted the ball in the 3rd quarter. After a low-scoring first half (3-6 in favor of the Patriots), the game picked up tempo in the 2nd half.
However, the visitors extended the lead by 10 points to 20-10 before Allen led the comeback with 2 minutes remaining. Starting at the 1:25 mark in the 4th quarter, the Bills used all 3 timeouts, but they couldn’t stop the Pats from advancing. In the end, they lost.
For those watching the game, it was heartbreaking. And now, they want only one thing.
They immediately requested the Bills’ management as one fan tweeted out with rage, “F— you Sean McDermott. I hope you get fired after this week. The #BillsMafia will never see a Super Bowl Champ under your leadership.” It was a common sentiment.
