Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills did not end the 2025 NFL season the way they were hoping. After going 12-5 in the regular season, the Bills lost to the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Khalil Shakir was the team's leading receiver, with 72 receptions for 719 yards and four touchdowns. It's a solid line for the former Boise State Bronco, but Buffalo has lacked a true top receiving threat since trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in 2024.

With Josh Allen under center, a four-time Pro Bowler and the 2024 MVP, the Bills' Super Bowl window is still considered wide open. Adding another playmaker could boost the offense. ESPN's Matt Bowen lists the Bills as the best fit for wide receiver Mike Evans. He is set to hit free agency on March 11.

"Under new coach Joe Brady, Evans could be that boundary X target for Allen and create matchups in the low red zone," Bowen wrote. "I like the idea of Buffalo getting aggressive to add a proven and reliable target."

Evans appeared in just eight games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season due to several different injuries. The former Texas A&M Aggie still hauled in 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns. It unfortunately snapped an 11-year streak of reaching at least 1,000 receiving yards.

However, the six-time Pro Bowler will be 33 years old when the 2026 season begins and could still provide help for teams in need of a wide receiver. He likely wouldn't be too expensive either. Spotrac projects that Evans market value will earn him a two-year, $26.6 million contract.

Giving Allen a wide receiver well on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame could help the Bills get over the hump and win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
