Bills Named 'Overrated' Due To 2 Big Reasons

There's no denying that the Buffalo Bills are one of only a handful of teams that can realistically win the Super Bowl in 2025. But that doesn't mean the roster is without its flaws and question marks.

For most, the offense with Joe Brady and Josh Allen is set, but defensively is where the issues are. If the offseason additions can click and hit the ground running, who knows what the defense could be?

Still, the Bills are contenders in the AFC and Super Bowl, but The Athletic has named Buffalo as "overrated" entering the 2025 season.

"Vegas gives Buffalo the third-best odds to win the next Super Bowl, behind Philadelphia and Baltimore," The Athletic writes. "It remains to be seen, however, if the Bills can resolve a contract dispute with two-time 1,000-yard rusher James Cook. And, more importantly, can a defense hit hard by injury in 2024 better support Allen and company this season?

"A shaky defense against Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson isn’t ideal."

Firstly, we don't think the Bills are overrated. Secondly, Buffalo's poor defense last season had enough to beat both Mahomes in the regular season and then Lamar Jackson in the playoffs.

And the defense is expected to be better this season. So, there's that.

But we get it. The defense is going to have to show up in the biggest moments, getting a sack here or a crucial stop there if Buffalo is to make the Super Bowl for the first time in Allen's tenure.

As far as Buffalo being overrated? Yeah, we don't see it.
