The big area of need for the Buffalo Bills entering the NFL Draft was on defense, given the powerful nature of Joe Brady's offense.
And that is exactly where the franchise went in the early rounds with corner Max Hairston, defensive tackle T.J. Sanders, defensive end Landon Jackson, defensive tackle Deone Walker, and defensive back Jordan Handcock all taken with Buffalo's first five picks (Dorian Strong a sixth-round pick).
Jackson Hawes, Chase Lundt, and Kaden Prather were drafted on the offensive side to round out the class.
So, with those additions, the Bills address their secondary needs, along with adding some bite for the defensive line, which improves the defense, we think.
But when assessing the roster as a whole now, Eric Edholm of NFL.com has the Bills coming in at No. 4 in his post-draft power rankings.
"The overall focus on defense was obvious and needed," Edholm writes. "Their work isn't done, but there's no reason to think the Bills shouldn't enter training camp as one of the Super Bowl favorites, even with a wait-and-see approach for the defense."
Many think another receiver was needed before the draft, and we don't see Prather being that needle-mover early in his career (though he might surprise).
There is a thought that the Bills might look to add another weapon for Allen in free agency, although with the current list of weapons, we see that as more of a luxury pick.
The Bills were seen as Super Bowl contenders before the draft, and nothing that has transpired over the draft suggests Sean McDermott's team won't be ready to roll when January comes around.
