The Buffalo Bills have been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL this season en route to a 13-3 record and locking up the No. 2 seed.
That means Buffalo's playoff seeding will be unaffected by the result of the Week 18 tune-up against the New England Patriots.
So, head coach Sean McDermott must now undertake a juggling act with his roster as he looks to have his stars fit and healthy enough to attack the postseason.
For ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, the Bills have one goal and one goal only against New England.
"The Bills are locked in to the No. 2 seed in the AFC, so the game will feature a mix of the team's typical starters and players whom the team wants "to take a look at as well," per coach Sean McDermott," Getzenberg writes. "Quarterback Josh Allen will start the game to maintain his consecutive starts streak (currently 104 games), but then Mitchell Trubisky will take over. The goal for the Bills, according to McDermott, is to win the game and come out of the week as fresh and healthy as possible for the postseason."
With only seven players allowed to be inactive, most of Buffalo's starters will have to see some game time, but it won't be much.
While Josh Allen is starting, it might resemble a preseason game, with Mitch Trubisky set to come in and take No. 17's place rather early on.
Yes, a win would be nice for the Bills, but bigger things are at stake here - like escaping this meaningless Week 18 game with all your starters healthy.
Cross your fingers and toes, Bills Mafia.
