Bills Sign Ex-Broncos WR KJ Hamler to Futures Deal

Former Denver Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler has landed a new NFL deal, signing a reserve/futures contract with the Buffalo Bills, it was reported Saturday.

Hamler, 24, was chosen by Denver in the second round of the 2020 draft. A once-promising prospect with elite deep speed, his professional career has waned due to a bulky injury jacket that includes repeated hamstring issues, a torn ACL, and a dislocated hip.

Hamler — who's appeared in only 23 games to date, totaling 42 receptions for 620 yards and three touchdowns — was released last July after being diagnosed with pericarditis, a mild heart irritation.

“His [situation] is unique, and it’s a unique condition," Broncos head coach Sean Payton said on Aug. 1. "We had a long visit with him."

While the Broncos left the door open for Hamler's return, the Penn State product ultimately departed the Mile High City, spending the 2023 campaign on the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad.

Hamler put pen to paper before Buffalo was eliminated in the AFC Divisional playoffs. He'll now join their offseason roster and hope to carve out a role behind Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, and Khalil Shakir in the Bills' WR corps.
