The Buffalo Bills have locked in linebacker Terrel Bernard to a four-year $50 million extension, according to published reports. Bernard was very instrumental in the Bills going to the AFC Championship Game last season.
The story was originally reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport Friday morning.
The deal kicks in for the 2026 season, but comes with a signing bonus and guaranteed money. Those specific terms have not been released at this time.
The inside linebacker was selected by his teammates as one of Buffalo's two captains for the 2024 season.
Bernard finished his third NFL season with 104 tackles, two interceptions, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, one sack and three passes broken up.
During his three seasons as a member of the Bills, Bernard has started 31 games and played in 46. Bernard has amassed 263 tackles and seven and a half sacks.
He is a menace to opposing quarterbacks coming off the blitz and he has accumulated 12 quarterback hits. He also garnered five interceptions, 15 tackles for loss, eight passes defensed and four fumble recoveries thus far in his NFL career.
The Bills are being very aggressive this season in signing their own players to extensions. They have signed wide receiver Khalil Shakir to an extension which created a buzz not only in Orchard Park, New York, but had ripples throughout the league.
Shakir posted a video on social media following the execution of his extension and was giddy, to say the least.
"Bills Mafia, what up? Signed and delivered, man. Appreciate y'all, can't wait to keep playing in front of y'all. Your support is everything. Go Bills," Shakir said.
Buffalo announced they signed Shakir to a four-year extension with multiple reports providing the details of the extension being worth up to $60.2 million with $32 million guaranteed.
