Bills WR Stefon Diggs on extension: 'I didn't ever want to go anywhere' else

Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs first joined the Buffalo Bills from the Minnesota Vikings via a blockbuster trade completed in March 2020. Diggs has quite enjoyed catching passes from Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen over the past two seasons. He's earned back-to-back Pro Bowl nods and was a First-Team All-Pro for the first time for the 2020 campaign.

It was reported Wednesday that Diggs was putting pen to paper on a four-year, $104 million extension with the Bills that includes $70 million in guaranteed money. The 28-year-old spoke with media members Thursday after Buffalo officially announced the signing of that deal.

"To me, my family, my support system, my agent — it was something that we talked about prior to me ever coming here," Diggs explained about committing his future to Buffalo, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "I felt like my next spot was my last spot. I wanted it to be my home and I didn’t ever want to go anywhere. So anticipating that, it was important to me — especially first year and the second year, you just felt like you had kind of built in that family. And it’s hard to do that when you have a job and you try to stay professional. But you get those relationships, like the one I have with Josh [Allen] and the other guys on the team. It’s just like, alright, it’s starting to feel a lot like home. You don’t want to leave it. So to be somewhat engraved for a good period of time, I’m forever appreciative."

According to ESPN stats, Diggs finished this past regular season eighth in the NFL with 1,225 receiving yards, tied for ninth with 103 catches and tied for sixth with 10 receiving touchdowns. He'll now have at least several additional years to build upon what's already an impressive Buffalo legacy.
