Bleacher Report Writer says Dolphins Among Teams that Should be Focused on Trading for More Picks in ’27

Despite some recent comments from Miami Dolphins newcomers Jalen Tolbert and Jamaree Salyer, Miami is clearly amid a rebuild and building for the future. So, one Bleacher Report writer thinks it would be in the Dolphins’ best interest to trade for more picks in what projects to be a talent-heavy draft in 2027.

Alex Kay mentioned the Dolphins as one of five teams that should look to increase their collection of picks for next year’s draft, along with some other projected bottom-feeder squads such as the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets.

It’s worth noting that Miami owns its picks for the first six rounds of next year’s draft, along with a fifth-round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers and a seventh-round choice from the New York Giants. The Dolphins acquired those fifth- and seventh-round selections in the Minkah Fitzpatrick and Darren Waller trades, respectively.

The article from Kay arguing that the Dolphins should put all their eggs in one basket on the 2027 NFL Draft comes with the 2026 NFL Draft mere weeks away. The opening day of the draft is scheduled for less than one month from now, on April 23, and Miami has assembled an impressive treasure chest of selections for this year’s festivities.

Seven of the first 94 picks of the draft belong to the Dolphins at this juncture, including two first-round picks. Miami owns the No. 11 pick on top of the No. 30 pick, the latter of which was acquired in the recent trade that sent wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos.

Hopefully, a year from now, the Dolphins will have a similar-sized hoard of picks for the 2027 NFL Draft and will capitalize on all the talent that year’s class has to offer. Next year’s draft could prove to be vitally important to building the next truly competitive Dolphins team.
