As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the 11-2 Denver Broncos as 2.5-point underdogs for their home game versus the 9-3-1 Green Bay Packers this coming Sunday.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was asked about the Packers being a road favorite for that matchup.
"I don't really care," Nix said about the line, per Jeff Legwold of ESPN. "My mom thinks we'll win. So that's all that matters."
The Broncos and the 11-2 New England Patriots are battling for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. Interestingly, the Patriots were betting underdogs for their Dec. 14 home game versus the 9-4 Buffalo Bills as of Thursday morning. Understandably, Nix had other things on his mind during his midweek availability.
"[Sunday] will be what seems to be a playoff game ... it's pretty much going to be like playoff football,'' Nix added during his comments.
The Broncos will enter this weekend leading the 9-4 Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West standings. Those two teams will face off in Denver in Week 18. Meanwhile, the 6-7 Kansas City Chiefs cannot leapfrog Denver in the standings before the regular season ends.
The Broncos are looking to ensure that they will play only home games during the upcoming postseason tournament. On Wednesday, Broncos head coach Sean Payton asked paying customers to make Empower Field at Mile High a fortress for the contest against Green Bay.
"You don't really pay attention to that until -- look, we know we're playing a good football team,'' Payton said about the line for Sunday's game. "That's something we have no control over ... we're counting on our crowd this week, not just at the line of scrimmage, but in the huddle ... But yeah, we're playing a good team."
It's unknown whether or not Payton and Co. are using the betting line as bulletin-board material behind the scenes. For what it's worth, the Bills-Patriots game should wrap up before the Broncos-Packers game gets underway at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
