Bobby Wagner calls out Seahawks over handling of release

On the surface, one-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson and All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner reacted to their differing exits from the Seattle Seahawks by expressing admiration for the organization and region. Wilson, who will officially be traded to the Denver Broncos when the new league year opens next week, tweeted he was "forever grateful" to the Seattle faithful, while Wagner and the Seahawks both took to the social media website to thank each other following his release on Wednesday.

Eyes were raised, however, when reports surfaced Thursday claiming that Wagner could ultimately sign with a different NFC West team and, thus, face the Seahawks at least twice next season. On Friday, the 31-year-old returned to Twitter to call his former employer out for apparently not being the first to let him know his services were no longer required in the Emerald City:

Wagner joined the Seahawks via the second round of the 2012 draft and has only played for them as a pro.

Wagner's tweet followed a story from The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue that said the eight-time Pro Bowl selection, who is from Los Angeles, could ultimately sign with the Los Angeles Rams at a discounted rate so he could "get two shots a year at the franchise that cut him."

John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 wrote Thursday the Arizona Cardinals have "no interest" in Wagner. It's currently unclear if the San Francisco 49ers would make Wagner a meaningful offer in free agency or are merely keeping an eye on his status in the final days of winter.
