Bobby Wagner spent the first 10 seasons of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, earning eight trips to the Pro Bowl, six First-Team All-Pro nods, and a Super Bowl ring. He thinks that run deserved a little more respect than he received when he was released by the team in March.
At an introductory press conference with the Los Angeles Rams — who agreed to a five-year deal with Wagner last week — the linebacker said he would've appreciated a "simple conversation" with the Seahawks before he was released.
"I think after 10 years, I think it's just simple communication," Wagner said, via Greg Beacham of the Associated Press. "I don't think it had to be that difficult. I watched their interview ... and I'm grateful, but when they said it was because I represented myself, I feel like that was weak. I don't feel like me representing myself, whether I had an agent or whether I didn't have an agent, I still felt like that was a conversation that they could have had.
"I just think that after 10 years, it could have been a simple conversation."
Wagner tweeted a similar sentiment shortly after his release.
Crazy part about all this. I played there for 10 years & I didn’t even hear it from them that I wasn’t coming back.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider told reporters in March that he regretted not communicating the team's plans to Wagner. He also seemingly blamed the fact that Wagner doesn't have an agent as the reason the conversation didn't happen.
