Now that the regular season has wrapped up, the Los Angeles Chargers can start their exhaustive HC search. They have wasted no time requesting interviews, much like many teams will do.

However, the Spanos family is aiming big with their next hire, as the Bolts have requested to hire the biggest HC candidate.

The Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will be the big get of the 2024 offseason. After transforming the Lions from a terrible franchise into an NFC powerhouse, it was only a matter of time until NFL teams came calling.

The Chargers announced that a search would be underway, and they would cast a "wide" net to try and secure an HC that could take them back to AFC dominance. There might be no one more suited to do so than Johnson.

Jared Goff saw his career rebound completely in Detroit, and the hope would be that Johnson could do the same with Justin Herbert.

Herbert has dealt with multiple OCs in his tenure with the Chargers and some stability and a fierce offensive mind could do wonders for his game.

Interestingly, the Chargers are also doing their due diligence in interviewing the Lions' DC as well. The entire coaching staff of the Lions is superb and bringing in Aaron Glenn would be huge too. However, we are unsure if rolling with another defensive-minded HC would be the right course.

They will engage in a huge interview process, which will include huge DC and OC candidates.

However, should the Chargers secure Johnson, it would be their biggest HC hire in the last 10 years.
