Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame snub really got under everyone's skins and there might be fullscale protests in Canton, Ohio sometime in the near future. In the meantime, at least one NFL icon is planning on boycotting the next induction ceremony.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Hall of Fame head coach Jimmy Johnson announced that he's not going to the induction ceremony this year. He said he met up with Belichick at the national title game last week and the two of them made plans to see each other there initially.

"I saw him at the national championship game between Miami and Indiana,” Johnson said. “And by the way, congratulations to Indiana, and Miami had a great year as well. Bill walked away and I was talking to him and he said ‘Hey, hope to see you at the Hall this year.’ Anyway, I thought it was going to be an automatic, so I chartered a jet. I was going to go up there. To hell with it. I’m not going this year.”

Belichick & Johnson

There are a couple of interesting parallels between Belichick and Johnson, or at least, how their careers ended.

Johnson won two Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys in the early-1990s, but a falling-out with team owner Jerry Jones led to his dismissal mere weeks after winning that second Super Bowl. Belichick similarly won countless glories for Patriots owner Robert Kraft but was ultimately let go five years after the team's last Super Bowl win.

Much like Johnson's relationship with Jones, Belichick's relationship with Kraft reportedly soured considerably and Belichick was largely blamed for the chaos that ensued in the years following Tom Brady's departure.

That didn't stop Kraft from publicly speaking on Belichick's behalf after the now-infamous snub though.

We'll see how things shake out in 2027 when Belichick's name is up for consideration again.
