Brandin Cooks hungry to chase Super Bowl with Cowboys after Texans stint

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks sounds happy to be away from the Houston Texans because of what he could achieve with the Dallas Cowboys as soon as next season.

"I’ll tell you I couldn’t be more hungry," Cooks said about his latest NFL opportunity, per Todd Archer of ESPN. "Last three years; is what it is. But I tell you when you stepping into a locker room like this and an organization, and you’ve got those three years under your belt like that, I mean, that is definitely fueling the fire and that hunger to be able to come out here and just show up and help my team win. I can’t wait. I truly can’t."

Specifically, Cooks was referencing how the Texans won a total of 11 regular-season games across his three campaigns with that organization. To compare, the Cowboys went 12-5 in 2021 and 2022. Dallas won a single playoff game and lost two postseason contests over that period.

Cooks signed a two-year extension with the Texans last April after star quarterback Deshaun Watson waived his no-trade clause to join the Cleveland Browns. The 29-year-old quickly became disgruntled over Houston's supposed lack of direction and seemingly wanted to join a different club last fall before the trade deadline. He then made it known in January he didn't want to be part of the Texans' latest roster rebuild.

The Cowboys landed Cooks from the Texans this past weekend.

Archer noted that three of Dallas' offseason acquisitions, Cooks included, have six combined Super Bowl appearances on their career résumés. Cooks indicated such experience could be invaluable for a franchise that last won a title in January 1996.

"I think when you have guys that’s been in it, saw the process, I think the biggest thing that you can preach is trusting the process," Cooks explained, "and not talking about it, but more so letting your work and your actions talk about it throughout the week, taking it one day at a time, keep your head down and grind, and then when you look up, that’s when you’re there."
