Brandon Aubrey isn’t just a kicker; he’s becoming a Dallas Cowboys legend in real time. The league is officially on notice. On Thursday, Aubrey was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, a clear nod to his flawless start to the 2025 season.

It was an easy call. Aubrey has been automatic.

Brandon Aubrey’s Perfect Start to the Season

Through the first four games, Brandon Aubrey has been perfect. He hasn’t missed. We’re talking 9-for-9 on field goals and a perfect 11-for-11 on extra points. In a league where kickers can make or break a season, Aubrey has been the definition of reliable, racking up 38 points for the Cowboys.

His performance against the New York Giants in Week 2 was nothing short of cinematic. With the clock hitting zero, he drilled a 64-yarder to force overtime—a kick that ties for the fourth-longest in NFL history. But he wasn’t done. He then nailed the game-winner in overtime, becoming the first player in NFL history to hit a game-tying field goal at the end of regulation and a game-winning one at the end of overtime in the same game.

That’s not just good; that’s clutch.

More Than Just Field Goals

Aubrey’s dominance extends beyond just putting the ball through the uprights. During the Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers, he demonstrated his power on kickoffs. He recorded three “landing zone” kickoffs that dropped into the end zone for touchbacks. These kicks are notoriously difficult to execute, but Aubrey makes them look routine.

This is the fourth Player of the Month award for Aubrey in his young career, adding to his collection from October and December of 2023 and September of last year. That’s the most in Cowboys history and the most in the NFL since 2023.

From a former first-round MLS draft pick to the most dependable foot in football, Brandon Aubrey’s journey is remarkable. The Cowboys gave him a shot, and he hasn’t just stuck around; he’s become the best kicker on the planet. This award is just another confirmation of what Cowboys fans already know: Brandon Aubrey is special.
