The Azeez Ojulari era in Philadelphia continues to be a "bust," as defensive coordinator Vic Fangio commented on the availability of the free agent signing for Week 8.

“I don’t think so.”

Ojulari got knocked out of the Eagles' 28-22 win over the Minnesota Vikings as he suffered a hamstring injury. It's unknown whether he will only be out for this week's game or if it could be longer.

Eagles made quick work of signing Brandon Graham in time after Ojulari's injury

Ojulari has had a tough go of it in Philadelphia after signing a one-year deal this past offseason. After being a healthy inactive for the first four weeks of the season, Ojulari has seen his role increase against the Denver Broncos and New York Giants, before his output against the Vikings only lasted four plays before his hamstring injury.

Currently, the Eagles' "EDGE" room sits with Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche, Patrick Johnson, and the newly unretired Brandon Graham, along with the versatile Jihaad Campbell if needed. The Eagles are currently dealing with injuries: Nolan Smith is on IR with a triceps injury, and Ogbo Okoronkwo is out for the season due to a triceps injury.

The Eagles EDGE situation has also dealt with the unexpected retirement of Za'Darius Smith, who was signed in the earlier part of the season and then opted to "hang up the cleats" to spend more time with family. While the Eagles' front seven has performed admirably, the defense has only amassed 11.0 sacks this season, ranking 28th in the NFL, compared to eighth in 2024.

Philly's lack of consistent pressure off the EDGE this season has had them lean on Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and even Moro Ojomo more. Ojomo is leading the team in pressures at 24 and sacks at three.

With Ojulari seemingly out for the foreseeable future, it looks like the Eagles are grasping at straws in an effort to generate consistent pressure by essentially luring Graham out of retirement as a complementary piece. The Eagles are slated to take on the New York Giants in Week 8 with the hopes of getting revenge for their Week 6 blowout loss.
