Brian Daboll reveals Dan Campbell's bold strategy when interviewed for job

Don't try this at your next job interview.

Per Pro Football Talk, Brian Daboll recalled an incident in 2011 when he was offensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins and head coach Tony Sparano had Daboll interview Dan Campbell for the position of tight ends coach.

Campbell left an impression with his unorthodox approach.

"He's slamming chairs on the ground and hitting walls and going through all these drills," said Daboll.

While that's not something we recommend for an interview for a 9-to-5 job, it apparently was just what Daboll was looking for.

"He's a fantastic person, great family," he said. Campbell and Daboll coached in Miami together during the 2011 season.

He also shared this amazing tidbit about Campbell when he first got hired, per PFT:

"Daboll said that on Campbell's first day of work, he showed up at 5:30 a.m. 'power cleaning and squatting' in the Dolphins' weight room."

Campbell is one of the more eccentric coaches in the NFL; in his introductory press conference, he implored the Lions to bite opponents' kneecaps and later suggested the team get him a pet lion to walk around on "a big-ass chain" throughout the facility.

Detroit (3-6) is third in the NFC North and on the verge of failing to reach the playoffs for a sixth consecutive season. Campbell is 6-19-1 as head coach in two seasons with the franchise. The Lions are twelfth in score offense (219) but are 31st in total defense (3,746) and last in points allowed (264).

If things don't improve, the Lions might want to consider bolting the chairs to the floor.
