On Sunday, Sept. 21 the Dallas Cowboys fell to 1-2 on the season with a 31-14 loss to the Chicago Bears. The loss was just the beginning of the bad news for the Cowboys, though, who lost star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to an ankle injury.

Lamb suffered the injury with 8:34 left in the first quarter on a carry as a running back when linebacker Noah Sewell landed on the back of Lamb's legs, causing the ankle to twist. Lamb eventually returned to the game, but only briefly as he was forced out of the contest with the painful injury.

Following the game, Jerry Jones revealed team doctors said the injury was not as serious as it could have been, with the Cowboys owner adding, "Let's just keep our fingers crossed."

Asked by the media after the game if he thought he'd be able to play next weekend against the Green Bay Packers, Lamb immediately said, "absolutely." His head coach, however, didn't want to speculate on his availability for the NFC showdown.

Brian Schottenheimer revealed Lamb has an ankle sprain and will undergo imaging to evaluate the extent of the injury.

"He’s got an ankle sprain. More imaging to come. Just got to have more tests done. He wanted to try to come back in and play and thought he could but those are the type of injuries that kind of get sore," he told reporters after the game.

Cowboys fans and fantasy football managers will be eagerly awaiting the latest word on Lamb's status for a Week 4 contest against the Packers next weekend.
