This was not the sophomore season that Brock Bowers or the Las Vegas Raiders envisioned.
During the second half of Week One against the New England Patriots, Bowers suffered a knee injury that took him out of the game. While Bowers soldiered through the first month of the season, it was clear that he was laboring through each and every play. Prior to Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, however, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Bowers suffered a PCL injury and bone bruise, making the situation more serious than initially expected.
Bowers missed Sunday’s game for the first time in his career, and it sounds like it will be more than a one-week affair.
According to Raiders beat writer Levi Edwards, head coach Pete Carroll has ruled Bowers as ‘week-to-week’ with his injury.
Pete Carroll is now labeling Brock Bowers as “week to week” dealing with his knee injury.

The designation puts Bowers at risk of missing Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, meaning the Raiders would turn to Albert Okwuegbunam and Ian Thomas again.
The Raiders playing it safe with Bowers is a sign that they know exactly where they are right now. A 1-4 start does not bode well for their chances at a postseason berth, with a myriad of issues coming to the forefront immediately. Bowers is an integral piece to the Raiders’ long-term plans and, if the season is already lost, there is no reason to rush him back and open the door for a more serious problem.
Keeping Bowers healthy should take top priority, even if that means the Raiders may have to endure further agony in the short term.
