Brock Purdy had honest reaction to gifts from Christian McCaffrey

There has been a lot of debate about which player is the true MVP of the San Francisco 49ers: Christian McCaffrey or Brock Purdy. While that question is still up for debate, McCaffrey may have just edged out Purdy for the Most Valuable Teammate award.

McCaffrey recently gifted every member of the 49ers offense a custom golf bag, a certificate for fitted golf clubs, and a bottle of Celaya Tequila.

Purdy, who also received a golf set and bottle of tequila, was asked about the gesture from the 49ers running back. He jokingly admitted that the move does help McCaffrey’s MVP case.

“Financially, I wouldn’t be able to cover that right now,” said Purdy with a smile. “Shoutout to him. Everyone loved it. Thank you, Christian.”

McCaffrey has made over $65 million in career earnings over his seven-year NFL career. The 27-year-old is currently playing out a four-year, $64 million extension he signed with the Carolina Panthers back in 2020. The man has some money to spare.

Purdy, who has already named McCaffrey as his personal choice for MVP, is making just $870,000 this season while playing in one of the most expensive cities in the world. It’s hard to blame the second-year QB for not stepping up with fancy presents just yet.

McCaffrey’s gift can’t hurt his case given that two-time MVP Patrick Mahomes also gave a golf-themed present to his offensive line.
