The San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy have agreed to terms on a new five-year, $265 million contract extention through 2030, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The new deal gives the former Mr. Irrelevant $181 million in total guarantees, including $165.05 million over the first three seasons of the deal.
Purdy, who was due just $5.346 million in 2025 as part of his rookie deal, will now make more than $55 million per year over the next three years and $215 million over the first four, according to Pelissero.
Purdy, who was the No. 262 overall and final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been seeking a new contract ahead of his fourth season in the league, the last year of his initial rookie deal. The 25-year-old Iowa State alum had a breakout season in 2023, his second year in the NFL, when he finished as the league passing leader with 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns with a 69.4 completion percentage on 308-of-444 passing that season.
The 2024 season wasn’t nearly as prolific as Purdy threw for 3,864 yards and 20 touchdowns as the 49ers struggled through a 6-9 year. Despite that slight regression, San Francisco wanted to make it clear Purdy was the 49ers’ franchise quarterback and will now pay him as such.
Purdy’s deal is the second major contract agreement San Francisco has accomplished this offseason, joining the four-year, $76.4 million extention star tight end George Kittle agreed to in late April, per Bussin’ With The Boys.
Throughout his career, Kittle has been all the 49ers could’ve bargained for and more. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Iowa, the No. 146 overall pick has outplayed his draft slot, and that’s selling it short. He’s certainly one of the best Day 3 picks to ever grace the league.
In his career, Kittle has amassed 113 games played, catching 538 passes for 7,380 receiving yards and 45 touchdowns. He’s surpassed the 1,000-yard-mark four times in eight seasons, as well. More than impressive for a tight end.
Moreover, Kittle has also been named an First-Team All-Pro twice (2019, 2023), Second-Team All-Pro three times (2018, 2022, 2024) and a Pro Bowler six times (2018, 2019, 2021–2024). There’s bound to be more success in his future, as well.
The 49ers have already seen several of their star players exit the building this offseason. Receiver Deebo Samuel, safety Talanoa Hufanga, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, guard Aaron Banks and cornerback Charvarius Ward are gone. San Francisco will look different next season as they look to make it back to the postseason.
