Brock Purdy shares honest thoughts on his injured toe

The San Francisco 49ers did just fine without Brock Purdy.

Kyle Shanahan's team had a 5-3 record with Mac Jones at the helm, and they didn't seem to be in a rush to turn back to their starting quarterback.

That allowed Purdy to get the rest he needed to recover from a nagging toe injury that kept him on the shelf since Week 4.

All eyes were on Purdy as he made his return against the Arizona Cardinals, and it looks like he didn't miss a beat.

Brock Purdy felt 'great' in his return

When asked about his injury, the former Mr. Irrelevant shut down any concerns about any potential setbacks.

“No, I didn’t even think about it, honestly, in the game or anything,” Purdy said, per Kirk Larrabee of 49ersWebzone.com.  “At practice and everything, that’s where I tested it all out. I’m like, at practice, rolling out, ‘All right, do I feel it, do I not?’ No, I don’t, I feel great. And then come [game-time] when I warmed up and everything, I didn’t even think about it. It felt great. Throughout the game and stuff, I was able to do everything-- scramble, keepers, roll-outs, step up in the pocket. I played quarterback.”

Purdy completed 19-of-26 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-22 triumph.

As expected, the 49ers didn't seem to want too much in his plate or put him in harm's way, but he didn't look rusty at all.

The Niners will now host the Carolina Panthers before a road game with the Cleveland Browns. They will have their bye in Week 14, giving Purdy even more time to get closer to full strength ahead of a potential playoff push.

As for Jones, he may have played his way into a starting role somewhere else after completing 201-of-289 passes for 2,151 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions in relief of Purdy.
