The San Francisco 49ers are leaving absolutely no doubt. They believe in quarterback Brock Purdy and proved that in huge way in recent days, agreeing to a massive contract extension with the former seventh-round selection.

Purdy and the 49ers have reportedly agreed to a five-year, $256 million deal that averages $53 million per season and includes $181 million in total guarantees for the QB. A huge and deserved pay raise for Purdy. The contract includes a unique twist that has flown under the radar until now.

Brock Purdy gets full no-trade clause in new contract

According to Mike Garafolo, the new deal for 49ers QB Brock Purdy includes a full no-trade clause for the duration of it.

Purdy is now the NFL's seventh-highest paid quarterback in terms of annual average value (AAV), capping a truly remarkable story for the former Mr. Irrelevant. -- Evan Winter

The quarterback will hold his own fate if it ever comes to a point where the team or he would like to part ways. The team won't be able to move him without his permission.

Purdy controls his future in a major way

Why does this sort of piece to a contract matter? Well, San Francisco put their money where their mouth is by making Purdy a top eight-paid QB in the NFL.

Then, they added this cherry on top that gives him leverage in any scenario where the 49ers want to go in a new direction at the position. Purdy goes from being one of the cheapest QB deals in the league to holding every key on the chain when it comes to his playing future.

For the 49ers, they are hoping that this no-trade clause never becomes a factor for the two sides of the deal. Instead, they would rather be happy with Purdy in the long-term, following this contract.
