Broncos Activate LB After Terrifying Alex Singleton Cancer Diagnosis

There are a lot of NFL fans who are down on the Denver Broncos, which is odd considering they are 8-2 and have exceeded expectations so far.

Sure, the offense, led by second-year quarterback Bo Nix, has been a bit of a disappointment, but the defense has been historically good.

They are currently on pace to break the record for most sacks in a season by a team and are silencing some of the best offenses in the league along the way.

Unfortunately, their defense suffered a crucial blow earlier this week when linebacker Alex Singleton was diagnosed with testicular cancer and was subsequently operated on.

The silver lining is that he has expressed that doctors are optimistic about his outlook, but it is a terrifying situation regardless of the severity.

Surprisingly, Singleton hasn’t been ruled out for the season, and there is a real possibility that he can return in the coming weeks. But in the meantime, Denver needs another linebacker to hold his spot, so they activated Garret Wallow from injured reserve.

Wallow has played three seasons in the NFL, but most of his playing time came as a special teams contributor, so having him fill in for one of the best tacklers in the sport is a big ask.

He probably won’t get many snaps immediately, but as he gets more adjusted to the team and city, he should earn more time on the field.

Impact of Singleton’s Absence

The Broncos host the Kansas City Chiefs today in an important matchup for playoff seeding and the AFC West division standings.

They struggle enough against the Chiefs, but things just got that much more difficult with the absence of Singleton.

His services would have come in handy against a fast and physical Kansas City offense, spearheaded by quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Denver will undoubtedly have a more difficult time winning without Singleton in the lineup, but they are probably much more concerned with his health than his availability today.
