Broncos are expected to cut Russell Wilson in March
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos have had a weird 24 hours. Something has happened that we didn't really expect, and now it's all unfolding.

First, it started with a report that Russell Wilson could be benched the last two games to save the Broncos some money in case Wilson got injured, the same thing we saw with the Raiders and Derek Carr last season.

Then the report came out that the Broncos told Wilson this after the Chiefs win, which means they were willing to punt on the playoffs if it meant moving on from Wilson, who was playing very well at that time.

Now, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Broncos plan on cutting Wilson in March, which will cost them some pretty hefty money.

According to Over The Cap, the move to extend Wilson has cost the Broncos $124 million for two years, which is crazy because he was already under contract for those years at the time of the trade for $51 million. That means Wilson got a $73 million raise.

This will go down as maybe the worst trade in NFL history.
