Broncos-Bengals Game Hit With Concerning Lightning Warning

To wrap up Week 4 of the NFL season, there will be two "Monday Night Football" games.

The New York Jets (0-3) and Miami Dolphins (0-3) will kick the night off at 7:15 p.m. ET on ESPN, while the Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) and Denver Broncos (1-2) will kick off an hour later at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC.

However, just hours before the Bengals-Broncos game, which is set to be played in Denver at Mile High stadium, concerning weather reports have emerged that could impact the game.

As reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer's Kelsey Conway, it is already raining in Denver, and thunderstorms are expected in the next couple of hours.

"Right now a lightning warning in Denver," wrote Conway. "Thunderstorms expected the next 2 hours before the game, will be clear by 6 pm MT but curious to see how, if it does, impacts both teams being able to warm up if it does."

According to NBC, a lightning strike within eight miles of the stadium will trigger a 30-minute delay. Each strike also leads to a 30-minute delay reset.

If lightning were to persist and the game delayed, it wouldn't be the first time that happened this season. The Week 1 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles was delayed for more than an hour.

As for the game itself, ESPN BET has the Broncos favored by 7.5 points, which is likely due to the fact that the Bengals are without two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Joe Burrow, who is on the IR with turf toe. In his place, the Bengals will turn to 29-year-old backup Jake Browning.

In two games this season, Browning has thrown for 381 yards and three touchdowns to five interceptions. As for the Broncos, they have lost their last two games by a combined four points and would love to get back in the win column.
