Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix underwent surgery this offseason, and general manager George Paton had an update on Tuesday at the NFL Combine.

Paton told reporters, via Troy Renck of the Denver Post, that Nix had surgery unrelated to back problems he dealt with during his rookie season. The Broncos general manager also confirmed that Nix is working out again uninhibited at team facilities, Renck added.

Though Nix sustained a back injury during his rookie season in 2024, he started all 17 games and threw for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns versus 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 430 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Broncos plan to build around the promising young quarterback out of Oregon. Broncos head coach Sean Payton emphasized that the team will prioritize running back and tight end in the draft during his press conference, per Renck.

Denver didn't have any tight end go over 188 yards this past season, and tight ends amounted for 51 catches, 483 yards, and five touchdowns in 2024. Running backs had more success between Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin as they accrued a combined 1,009 yards and five touchdowns. However, the Broncos could lose Williams in free agency, and McLaughlin has already put in a lot of work amid 189 carries in just two season.
