Despite the Denver Broncos reaching the AFC Championship Game, several areas on the roster could be improved. One area the front office could focus on is surrounding quarterback Bo Nix with more offensive playmakers.
Behind Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin was the Broncos' second-most effective wide receiver. He hauled in 65 receptions for 709 yards and six touchdowns. It's a solid season, but Denver could still explore the market for a new No. 2 option.
That's why, in an article for ESPN, NFL analyst Aaron Schatz predicts the Broncos will sign Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce.
"After exploring a trade for Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in November, the Broncos will finally get their WR2 by signing the Colts' Alec Pierce," Schatz wrote. "A big, physical receiver who can block and win on contested catches downfield, he's a perfect fit for Nix's play style and Payton's offense."
Pierce is coming off one of his best seasons since joining the NFL in 2022, hauling in 47 receptions (career high), for 1,003 yards (career high) and six touchdowns. In his first four seasons, he's totalled 157 receptions, 2,934 yards and 17 touchdowns.
However, if the Broncos are interested in Pierce by the time free agency begins on March 11, they'd need to be prepared to hand out a hefty contract. The wide receiver's market value is at $20.2 million annually, per Spotrac.
After the offense ranked 14th in points per game (23.6), bringing in another proven threat at wide receiver could be crucial to the Broncos' success in 2026 and beyond.
