The Broncos confirmed on Monday that Bridgewater had been released from the medical facility and placed in the NFL's concussion protocol, and ESPN's Jeff Legwold notes that head coach Vic Fangio told reporters it's "highly unlikely'' the 29-year-old will be available for this coming Sunday's matchup at the rival Las Vegas Raiders.
"I just spoke to him a few minutes ago,'' Fangio said of Bridgewater. "He's been released, he's home, he's resting comfortably. He sounded a lot better this morning than he did last night. Last night he sounded real tired. This morning, and I just spoke to him, he sounded a lot better.''
Bridgewater would have to miss at least the rest of the regular season, per NFL rules, if he lands on injured reserve, but Fangio said such a move isn't yet being considered. Former starter and current backup Drew Lock returns atop the depth chart in Bridgewater's place.
Lock completed 6-of-12 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. Thus far this season, he's connected on 22-of-40 attempts for 227 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
