The Denver Broncos made some big improvements during the 2026 offseason. Denver was pretty quiet during the 2026 NFL Draft, but that’s partly because they acquired Jaylen Waddle back in March. Denver just added another body to their wide receiver room after a successful tryout.

The Broncos are signing wide receiver Michael Woods II after his tryout during last weekend’s rookie minicamp, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Browns drafted Woods in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. He signed a four-year rookie contract worth $3.83 million. Woods did not make much noise as a rookie, only managing five receptions for 45 yards in addition to some special teams snaps.

Everything went wrong during the next offseason. Woods ruptured his Achilles during a private workout with Deshaun Watson, prematurely ending his sophomore campaign. He also violated the league’s personal conduct policy, earning himself a six-game suspension during the 2023 season.

Cleveland waived Woods before the 2024 season but brought him back on the practice squad. He also appeared on Green Bay’s practice squad during the 2025 season.

Denver already has a deep receiver room with Waddle, Courtland Sutton, and Troy Franklin rounding out the starting lineup. If Woods wants to stick around, he’ll need to outperform some of Denver’s reserve wide receivers during offseason practices.

Woods should have a chance to prove himself during the rest of Denver’s offseason program. Next up is organized team activities, commonly called OTAs, from June 2-4 and June 8-11. After that is mandatory minicamp from June 16-18 and finally training camp, which kicks off in late July.

It will be fascinating to see if Woods can make his mark in Denver after a strong showing in rookie minicamp.
