The Denver Broncos are keeping an eye on a particular quarterback option that could provide depth behind Bo Nix. The name is a familiar one, as he played in the AFC West alongside Denver a season ago.
Desmond Ridder will throw at the Broncos’ rookie minicamp, according to Mike Klis of 9News. He's another QB option thrown into the mix for the staff to get their eyes on for the Broncos.

QB Desmond Ridder is getting a vet tryout with Broncos, per source. Former Univ. of Cincinnati star was Atlanta Falcons' 3rd-rd draft pick in 2022. Started 13 games in 2023. With Cardinals and Raiders last year.
This is a unique opportunity for a non-rookie player to get an opportunity at rookie minicamp. You rarely see a quarterback option as experienced as Ridder in the NFL working out in this setting, but it does make plenty of sides for both sides in the player and the organization.
Ridder is a former third-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons but spent last season with the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders. The QB has started 18 games in three seasons as a pro, including thirteen for the Falcons in 2023. Ridder has thrown sixteen touchdowns and fourteen interceptions in his NFL career.
The Broncos' rookies and vets will be at team headquarters for meetings Thursday, then practice on the field Friday, Saturday and Mother's Day Sunday.

Signing Ridder would not be an overly aggressive move by Denver, but he does have starting experience in the league - in case of emergency.
The QB may get a chance to compete against Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger for the backup role behind Bo Nix in Sean Payton's offense. We will see if his workout leads to a signing in Denver.
