Broncos to Sign Veteran Tight End To Two-Year Deal

The Denver Broncos are adding another weapon to the arsenal of second-year quarterback Bo Nix.  According to Ian Rappoport , Denver is signing tight end Evan Engram to a two-year deal worth $23 million. Head coach Sean Payton has finally gotten the "joker" that he has wanted all offseason.

Engram was drafted by the New York Giants in 2017 and has spent the last three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Engram appeared in just nine games in 2024 due to several different injuries throughout the season.

He had his best season in 2023, setting career highs in receptions (114), receiving yards (963), and receptions per game (6.7). His second-best in all of those categories came in 2022 in his first season with Jacksonville.

Engram will join a Broncos offense that struggled mightily at the tight end spot in 2024. Adam Trautman was Denver's leading receiver at the position with just 188 yards. Nate Adkins was second with only 115.

The struggles for Denver at tight end are why the team is heavily involved in additions there, and the signing of Engram makes so much sense. The Broncos have also been linked to several tight ends in mock drafts, such as Tyler Warren, Harold Fannin Jr., and Mason Taylor.

After what felt like a career rejuvenation in Jacksonville, Engram will now head to a team with high aspirations after making the playoffs in 2024. He will be a part of helping Denver get back to the postseason in back-to-back seasons for the first time since it went five straight years from 2011-2015.
