The Denver Broncos have waived four undrafted rookies — wide receiver Dallas Daniels, cornerback Darrious Gaines, tight end Kris Leach and running back Emanuel Wilson — from its offseason roster, the team announced Monday.

In corresponding moves, the Broncos re-signed RB Tyreik McAllister and, as previously reported, safety Kareem Jackson.

Though far from an Earth-shattering transaction, Gaines is arguably the most notable name to hit the chopping block — if only because he received a $45,000 guarantee upon putting pen to paper following the 2023 NFL draft.

“I was surprised about it," Gaines said of his release, via beat reporter Chris Tomasson.

As for what's next, it doesn't sound like an immediate return to Denver is in the cards.

“I have no idea,’’ Gaines told Tomasson. "I’m going to play it day by day.”

The Broncos will head into next week's Organized Team Activities with several corners vying for playing time behind locked-in starters Patrick Surtain II and Damarri Mathis. Third-round rookie Riley Moss is considered the early CB3 favorite (not including starting nickelback K'Waun Williams).

Denver has two roster spots that will officially be filled Tuesday by former XFL quarterback Ben DiNucci and RB Jacques Patrick.
