Broncos Waive OT Casey Tucker

Needing to create roster space for their rookie class, the Denver Broncos on Thursday waived offensive tackle Casey Tucker, per the league's transaction wire.

A former undrafted free agent out of Arizona State, Tucker originally joined the Broncos' practice squad in 2021 before defecting to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he made his NFL debut. He returned to Denver in January 2022, signing a reserve/futures contract.

Tucker, 27, suffered a dislocated big toe amid the Broncos' preseason loss at Buffalo last August. The issue required season-ending surgery and prompted a year-long stint on injured reserve.

"That was fascinating. So hopefully, he'll be alright," former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said at the time. "I mean, being out there with him and watching it, I don't think I've ever seen something like that happen with a toe."

Tucker's departure pares the Broncos' OT depth down to Isaiah Prince, Christian DiLauro, Hunter Thedford, and rookie UDFAs Alex Palczewski and Demontrey Jacobs — the latter of whom will participate in this weekend's minicamp.

Presumably, the team will evaluate the group to identify potential backups behind starting left tackle Garett Bolles and new right tackle Mike McGlinchey, who inked a massive $87.5 million contract in March.
